Aw bless!
Have a bath and an early night and take a deep breath before you go back tomorrow.
The first day on any new job is daunting, and it seems you were thrown in at the deep end today.
There are lots of jobs available in the NHS, slap a smile on your face (regardless of how you are feeling inside).
Think of the relief work as good experience, when a permanent position becomes available you will have already shown you are flexible and reliable and will also know which departments you would rather avoid!

Tomorrow will be better, good luck.

That sounds really awful, you have my sympathy. I don't work as a domestic but I don't see any reason why you could not let your boss know you'd like a permanent position. Explain that you were not made aware that you would be a relief worker before you joined. No-one can sack you for asking.

Also, remember that starting any new job is hard and difficult but with time you grow in confidence and ability. Think about it this way, you've done the hardest job first (I can't think of anywhere harder to clean in a hospital than the theatre) so things can only get easier.

Good luck, I wish you well.

stay where you are for the moment and keep your ears open for any vacancies that come up in other departments you never know something better may come along
