Wow, this story you've been through sucks and I'm sorry you are getting the run around it sounds. I know first hand about trying to get diagnosis and being treated with less compassion then an animal lying on the side of the road.
You are going to have to find a whole new physican...do not have your records transferred as it sounds like your previous doc has this pot info on there and as you said has decided to declair you a "drug addict". Geez, you could maybe have said you tried pot once to see if it helped the pain because you cant get any help. You will have to stop smiling or get it out of your system as you go and get tests because lets face it. No doc is going to be okay with that. Main problem is you deserve to have your pain managed and not be treated like this. I've been there. Try a new doctor...is there another hospital near you? I would probably fess up eventually maybe sooner then later about the pot. Tell them you no longer smoke but that you need HELP! Scream it from the roof tops if you have to. I used to get turned away from ER's too....until I got proper diagnosis and went through hell to get where I am now. I was treated like **** to put it midly. I wish you luck, get rid of all these ties and find new docs...you may have to pay cash for a while and say yuo have no insurance right now because they can look things up that way too. Sounds like you also need to report this doctor....he really doesn't have the right to have labeled you this, send you to places he knows you will recieve hardly any treatment.
It takes alot of mouth and leg work...stand up for your rights and you'll see...you will find someone with compassion..the thing most docs lack these days. It's not like you were or are a heroine addict. Even if you were..they need to help you with that and make your life livable. God Bless...and please hang tough.

Love,
Eileen...

I would try to clean out your system from the marijauna and have them retake the urine test. It's not right to have to suffer that much that you have to smoke pot to get pain relief. I would find another Dr. in the surrounding area to go that has no idea of your history.

Well, I thought I lived in the state with the worst health care.
That said, you can find an independant pain clinic and their should be one close to you, but there are always gonna be rules to follow. The very first one is No Street Drugs.

In order for these doctors to prescribe you pain medication they have to conclude that you are not using illegal drugs. You said you were labeled an addict, but that was the only choice that they had when you tested positive for marijuana!! If you are a chronic user of Any street drug or a heavy drinker, you might as well give up the idea of Pain Management. They cannot be liable for prescribing drugs if you are a risk.

The first thing that any clinic is going to do is give you a Urine Screen and that must come back clean before they will even analyze you. If you are clean, you must have a somewhat positive attitude about trying to eliminate your pain. If you go in there a down in the dumps and pissy, they will consider that you are depressed beyond the the safety net of prescription drugs. Although they are sensitive to the fact that
you are in pain and have been through the ringer getting people to listen to you. It happens to all of us, unfortunetly because there are so many addicts that have formed elaborate ways to obtain prescription medications. The federal government has had to lay strict laws reguarding the dispensing of these drugs.
Once you get through the initial visits ,things calm down tremendously, as long as you seems to be taking your meds responsibly and you are in a frame of mind that is focused on your health. I have been prescibed many, many narcotic medications in order to find the best "cocktail" for my pain.
That would have never been able to happen if I wasn't patient with them and let them run things. If you go in there demanding, they are going to get "red flags" and possibly consider you drug seeking.
They will likely have you sign a condition sheet as well. Mine consisted of things like, I had to be willing to bring my pills bottles in for a count at any time. Meaning if they had any questions about how I was using my meds, they could call me and ask me to bring my meds by to count them, if they don't match up to the dates prescribed they can terminate my treatment, also I have to be willing to have a drug screen for illegal drugs at any time, I must fill my prescriptions at the same pharmacy, I must follow any recommendations for outside help with my condition, meaning if my condition would be helped by physcial therapy, then I must attend physical thearpy, finally I signed that I vow not to dispense or sell my medication to another individual at any time.
With that, they are covered if I would be arrested or if I would overdose or anything that could fall back on them.

I was in so much pain when I went to my Clinic for the first time, I was willing to do anything required of me to show that I honestly was miserable in pain and needed help. You might call that degrading and I guess in a way it is when you don't have bad intentions in mind, but I had to be open minded enough to be sensitive to their policies in order to get the help I needed. Quite frankly I had so much Nerve pain that if they told me I had to go out and eat mud, I would have.

So I guess its up to you, if you aren't clean, then clean up. Go on the internet locally and find a Pain Clinic, and work with them.

I hope you feel better soon, I know how bad nerve pain can be.

You may want to relocate to a state that has legal medical marijuana. Most people don't think so but medical marijuana is very effective as a pain medication for many people. It is far better for them to smoke it than to load them up on a handful of narcotics.
