Founded in 1978, the New York Organ Donor Network is a nonprofit and federally designated organ procurement organization. It recovers various human organs, including hearts, livers, kidneys, pancreas, lungs and intestines for transplantation. The network also seeks family consent for the donation of tissues, such as corneas, skin, bone, tendons and heart valves. The New York Organ Donor Network works with more than eight transplant centers and over 90 hospitals throughout New York and Pennsylvania. It operates executive management, communications, donor referral, and hospital and family services departments. In addition, the network operates a center that provides information related to organ and tissue donation. It is a member of the United Network for Organ Sharing. The New York Organ Donor Network is located in New York City.
