For 50 years the Santa Monica Playhouse & Group Theatre has been providing the Santa Monica community with classic and contemporary theater productions. Additionally, classes are taught in all facets of theater to everyone from preschoolers to teens and adults. The Playhouse is a nonprofit educational corporation, funded by donations, ticket sales and sales of merchandise like T-shirts and tote bags. Putting on upward of 25 productions a year, the two companies that reside in the space (the Actors' Repertory Theatre and the Young Professionals' Company) utilize multiple avenues for auditions: they post upcoming productions and open roles online, as well as giving private auditions throughout the year for any and all shows
