Founded in 1917, the Naval Medical Center San Diego is a navy medical treatment facility that offers educational programs in anesthesiology, dermatology, emergency medicine, otolaryngology, orthopedics, pathology and pediatrics. It also provides gynecology, ophthalmology, general practice dentistry, and urology services. The center operates a 24-hour pharmacy, plain clinic, radiology department and plastic surgery clinic. The Naval Medical Center San Diego offers fellowships in adolescent medicine, cardiology, critical care, computerized tomography and imaging, dermatophathology and gastroenterology. It also conducts training sessions, as well as nurse s internship programs. In addition, the center provides treatments for thyroid, pituitary and adrenal diseases.
